Underground mine includes many numbers of disasters and challenging issues that includes water leakages, rock bursts, dust, explosions and other buried dangers. Safety is the significant requirement for the workers to ensure their life.

Generally the variation in the environmental factors can be felt by normal human, but the changes cannot be accurately detected.

Hence detecting such variations in the underground environment helps to safeguard the worker which is the main objective of this project. In this project, the worker’s life is given more importance and so the environmental parameters like temperature, humidity and gas is reported continuously.

A Cost – Benefit Analysis of Communication to Wireless Sensor Networks in Underground Hard Rock Mines. The harmful gas includes methane, CO₂, SO₂ and CO are present in the underground mine. The wireless technology of ZigBee is used for faster data transmission. This ZigBee node is economical with lesser power consumption and connects upto 100 m distances.
